ChatMeld Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026 ChatMeld is operated by DigiMeld UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Germany. ChatMeld is designed to provide location-based communication without requiring users to create personal accounts or public profiles. We minimize the collection and retention of personal data while maintaining the technical information necessary to operate the service, provide location-based functionality, prevent abuse, and enforce our communication rules.
1. No personal registration
1. No personal registration ChatMeld does not require users to provide a name, email address, telephone number, or other traditional account information to participate in chats. Users do not have persistent public personal profiles. Nicknames used within chats do not represent verified real-world identities. The absence of personal registration does not prevent ChatMeld from using limited technical information necessary for security, moderation, abuse prevention, and enforcement. 2. Information we process Depending on the functionality being used, ChatMeld may process: ChatMeld does not require access to a user's name, personal email address, telephone number, contacts, or persistent public social profile for chat participation. • Messages and other content submitted through chats • Approximate or precise location while location-based functionality is actively used • IP addresses and connection information • Push notification tokens • Temporary session and service identifiers • Technical device and application information necessary for security and service operation • Limited diagnostic and security logs • Information relating to reports, moderation decisions, and access restrictions • Information about nearby Wi-Fi access points used for location-related functionality as described below 3. Messages and moderation Messages are processed to provide the communication service and are automatically screened for prohibited, abusive, harmful, or otherwise non-compliant content. Messages may be prevented from being published when automated safety systems detect a violation. Users may report messages for additional review. When a report or suspected violation requires investigation, a limited snapshot of the relevant chat may be temporarily retained for moderation purposes. Moderators may review reported content and apply appropriate measures, including content removal or temporary or permanent restrictions on access to the service. 4. Location information ChatMeld uses location information to determine which location-based chats are relevant and available to the user. Location information is used for the active functionality of the service and is not used to create advertising profiles or to track users for advertising purposes. ChatMeld may also process information about nearby Wi-Fi access points, such as SSID and BSSID, together with approximate location information to improve location accuracy and spatial analysis. Before relevant Wi-Fi identifiers are stored by GeoMeld, they are subjected to one-way cryptographic processing. GeoMeld stores spatial information and processed Wi-Fi identifiers for location-related analysis and does not use this information for advertising. 5. Technical information and abuse prevention ChatMeld may process IP addresses, session information, technical identifiers, security information, and related logs where necessary to: These mechanisms allow ChatMeld to enforce its rules even though personal account registration is not required. • Operate and secure the service • Prevent spam, abuse, manipulation, and unauthorized use • Investigate reports and violations • Apply and enforce temporary or permanent access restrictions • Protect users and the service from repeated violations 6. Retention ChatMeld is designed to minimize data retention. Chats are temporary and subject to defined retention periods (TTL). When an inactive chat expires, the chat and its contents are deleted according to the applicable retention rules. When a report is submitted, a limited moderation snapshot may be retained for up to 30 days or until the investigation is completed, whichever is applicable. Technical information associated with confirmed violations may be retained for the duration necessary to prevent repeated abuse, but no longer than 24 months. Other temporary technical logs and operational information are deleted when they are no longer required for their stated purpose. 7. Services used by ChatMeld ChatMeld may use services necessary to provide its functionality, including: PushMeld, SprachMeld, and GeoMeld are operated by DigiMeld UG (haftungsbeschränkt) as part of the MELD® ecosystem. Where third-party services process data on our behalf, they are required to provide appropriate protection consistent with applicable privacy requirements. • PushMeld.de for notification delivery • SprachMeld.de for automated message safety and content checks • GeoMeld.de for location-related and spatial processing • Apple and/or Google platform or mapping services where applicable
8. Advertising and tracking
8. Advertising and tracking ChatMeld does not sell personal data. ChatMeld does not use chat content or technical information to create advertising profiles. ChatMeld does not use collected information for cross-app or cross-service advertising tracking. 9. User privacy choices and deletion requests Because ChatMeld does not require personal accounts, in many cases we cannot associate stored technical information with a specific real-world person. Users may contact us regarding privacy questions, withdrawal of consent, or requests concerning access to or deletion of data. Where sufficient information exists to identify the relevant data without compromising the privacy or security of other users, we will process such requests in accordance with applicable law. Users may also revoke system permissions, including location permissions and notification permissions, through the settings provided by their operating system. Disabling a permission may limit functionality that depends on it. 10. Children's privacy and age requirements ChatMeld does not require users to provide their real-world identity or date of birth. Use of ChatMeld is subject to the minimum age stated in the applicable User Agreement and any higher minimum age required by local law. ChatMeld's safety and moderation rules apply to all users regardless of age. 11. Security We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect information processed by ChatMeld against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. 12. Changes to this Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy when the service, legal requirements, or our privacy practices change. The current version and update date are published on this page. Where required, users will be informed of material changes through the application or other appropriate means. 13.
